Moorpark is a city in Ventura County, California, located to the west of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Incorporated in July of 1983, Moorpark is 12.44 square-miles in size. In 1887, Robert W. Poindexter named the city after the Moorpark apricot which grew throughout the valley. The city has a large agricultural industry and is known for their many farms and fields of crops. The Moorpark Unified School District is the largest employer in the city. Moorpark Community College is one of the most well-known and prestigious community colleges in California, often recognized for their animal science program and zoo on campus.
